  partnered to bring listeners Woza Win- a competition that offered participants the chance to win R1 million in cash every weekday while raising funds to give learners in Gauteng’s primary schools a nourishing start to their day.

Funds raised through the Woza Win competition will contributed to the expansion of the 

Tiger Brands in-school breakfast programme 

in Gauteng, which provides nutritious meals to children across the province. For many learners, this breakfast is so much more than just a daily meal — it’s the key which unlocks the opportunity for reaching their full potential.

A well-nourished child is a child ready to learn. Studies show that children who start their day with a healthy breakfast have better concentration, improved attendance, and higher energy levels. A simple bowl of fortified porridge can mean the difference between a child struggling to stay focused in class and one who thrives both academically and socially.

In addition to improving nutrition and removing barriers to education, this initiative laid the foundation for the development and empowerment of the youth of tomorrow. By giving children the energy, they needed to participate fully in school, the programme opened doors to opportunity — helping nurture the next generation of thinkers, leaders, and changemakers. Every meal served helped pave the way for a brighter future for the next generation.

Throughout October, South Africans were invited to

In partnership with The Star Foundation, all proceeds from Big September went directly towards surgical equipment and consumables for S

 at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital — the largest hospital in the Southern Hemisphere, and a lifeline for thousands of children in need of life-saving operations.

Each month, a small team of just five paediatric surgeons performed over 200 operations — from delicate neonatal procedures to urgent life-saving interventions. These surgeries were only possible with specialised equipment and consumables which, in many cases, were not available at public hospitals.

That’s where Big September made a difference. Thanks to your support, the funds raised helped support 

 touching the lives of hundreds of young children who now have hope for a brighter, healthier future.

Big September wasn’t just about winning cash — it was about providing world-class medical care and saving little lives.

Funds raised during Woza Win provided a lifeline to families facing one of South Africa’s most urgent challenges:

 to a family in rural KwaZulu-Natal that still relied on unsafe water sources for daily needs. Each bucket lasts 2–3 years, filters more than 10,000 litres of drinking water, and removes 99.9999% of harmful bacteria — giving families immediate access to clean, safe water and protecting them from severe health risks.

More than 10 million South Africans still lack access to safe drinking water, with rural communities being the most affected. KwaZulu-Natal remains one of the provinces hardest hit by these challenges, where infrastructure backlogs and inequalities exceed national averages.

What happens when you combine 67 minutes of giving, a little heart, and a whole lot of teamwork? You create something unforgettable and that’s exactly what we did this Mandela Day.

 offices came together across three provinces, united by a shared mission: to honour Madiba’s legacy through meaningful acts of kindness. With support from The Star Foundation and a network of inspiring partners, the teams in each office contributed to something truly special — showcasing the power of collective action to spark lasting change.

In Johannesburg, the office was transformed into a buzzing packing hub as the call centre teams swapped headsets for assembly lines in the lead up to Mandela Day. Together, they packed toiletry bags for 

 (Mould, Empower, Serve) — an organisation dedicated to supporting Hillbrow’s most vulnerable. To extend the impact even further, The Star Foundation also donated groceries to support MES in their mission to tackle hunger. On 18 July, the LottoStar team joined on-site to help pack the pantry and personally hand out cooked meals to the homeless. It was a powerful reminder that giving of your time can be one of the most meaningful ways to make a difference.

In Nelspruit, we partnered with the Thabo Nkosi Foundation. Rolling up their sleeves, the team prepared 134 Jars of Hope and packed 67 toiletry packs for girls and 67 for boys — all of which were gifted to the incredible learners at Kamagugu Special School. Each learner also received a beanie in a memorable handover event which was full of big smiles, warm hugs, and moments of joy — a true reminder that teamwork really does make the dream work.

The team in the Cape Town office spent Mandela Day with the 50 orphaned babies and children at 

, as well as bowls and utensils for the children— enough to provide breakfast for the next 67 days to all those who call the centre home. The team brought along reading books, read stories to the little ones, and enjoyed quality time with the children through fun, engaging activities. The day was filled with laughs, full tummies, and many special moments the team won’t soon forget.

Across every location, and across each Lottostar office, this campaign was about so much more than just 67 minutes. It was about showing up with heart. At the Star Foundation, Mandela Day is not just a call to action — it’s a reminder that when we come together, we can transform small acts of kindness into powerful stories of hope.

This year, across three provinces, we kept Madiba’s spirit alive by getting involved, giving back, and touching lives.
