A win-win for you, and for rural communities– together with Lottostar, the Gift of the Givers Foundation, and Ukhozi FM.
From 11 -29th August
, LottoStar and
Ukhozi FM brought listeners
Woza Win, where R1 million in cash was up for grabs every weekday. For many, the chance to win was just one phone call away.
But the real win lay in the lives that were changed through every entry.
With each participation, listeners helped support the
Gift of the Givers Foundation- the largest disaster relief organisation of African origin- as they restore dignity and bring hope to communities in crisis.
Funds raised during Woza Win provided a lifeline to families facing one of South Africa’s most urgent challenges: access to clean water. For every R500 raised, Gift of the Givers distributed a PureFlow Amanzi bucket filter to a family in rural KwaZulu-Natal that still relied on unsafe water sources for daily needs. Each bucket lasts 2–3 years, filters more than 10,000 litres of drinking water, and removes 99.9999% of harmful bacteria — giving families immediate access to clean, safe water and protecting them from severe health risks.
The Impact of PureFlow Amanzi
More than 10 million South Africans still lack access to safe drinking water, with rural communities being the most affected. KwaZulu-Natal remains one of the provinces hardest hit by these challenges, where infrastructure backlogs and inequalities exceed national averages.
The PureFlow Amanzi bucket filter is a gravity-fed, electricity-free, low-maintenance solution that provides clean water where formal infrastructure is unavailable or unreliable. Its simple design makes it easy to transport, assemble and use without special training.
Your entry didn’t just give you the chance to win big — it gave someone else the chance to live a healthier, safer and more dignified life. At LottoStar and The Star Foundation, we believe everyone deserves access to clean, safe drinking water. In partnership with Gift of the Givers and Ukhozi FM, Woza Win helped bring that belief to life.
