The Star Foundation, known for its commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those facing adversity, has recently taken a remarkable step by contributing to Jumping Kids, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting children in acquiring prosthetic equipment after amputation, for the next 12-months.

Every month, a child will receive a donation of R50,000 that will go towards their prosthetic leg.

Childhood amputation can be an overwhelming experience for both children and their families. Jumping Kids transforms the lives of these young individuals, providing them with the support they need to overcome physical challenges and prosthetic equipment so that they may live their lives to the fullest, like other children.

The Star Foundation's contribution goes beyond financial support. It’s about commitment to creating opportunities for children who have faced losing a limb and having their mobility restored.

Families who were once burdened by the challenges of amputation now find solace and hope as their children receive support from Jumping Kids, supported by The Star Foundation.

As we observe The Star Foundation's contribution to Jumping Kids, it is an opportunity for us all to reflect on the impact of shaping a brighter future. The simple act of providing prosthetic equipment becomes a catalyst for empowerment, resilience, and the reaffirmation that every child deserves a chance to soar, jump, and dream without limitations.

The Star Foundation is teaming up with Jumping Kids, a non-profit aiding children with prosthetic equipment post-amputation, committing to monthly donations, fostering hope and mobility for those in need.

Access to mobility

Meet Lethabo Magooa, a remarkable student from Midrand who defied the odds despite facing challenges from birth due to amniotic band syndrome (fibrous bands of the amniotic sac get tangled around a developing fetus).

Since 2022, Lethabo has been a beneficiary of Jumping Kids receiving a top-notch below-knee prosthetic device. Thanks to this support, he's not just walking confidently at school but also excelling academically. In fact, he passed Grade 5 at Spark School in Midrand with distinctions across all subjects.

Currently in Grade 6, he's eager to expand his horizons beyond academics. Already into Karate, he dreams of adding soccer and basketball to his list of achievements.

With determination and support, Lethabo is proving that nothing can hold him back from reaching new heights.

Get to know Lethabo a little better in the Q&A below:

What is your favourite subject at school and why?

Maths because it's a fun subject that requires one to think and use calculations to find the answers.

What would you like to pursue as a career one day?

I would like to be an entrepreneur and have my own business. If not, then maybe a pilot.

What types of sports and extracurricular activities are you involved in?

The only thing I do currently is Karate but, I would like to explore basketball in the future.

What do you hope to try with your new prosthetic sports blade?

I hope to try playing soccer or basketball in future.

What is your message to children living with a physical challenge?

Just because other people look at you differently doesn't mean you are not like them; all people are different in their own ways, and you must accept yourself for the person you are today.

Action in Autism

 is a non-profit organization that advocates for the rights of people with Autism. As the only non-profit organization serving the needs of people with Autism in Kwa-Zulu Natal Action in Autism’s service is critical, because the province has an average of at least 150,000 people diagnosed with Autism.

The organization’s objective is to improve the life of people with Autism Spectrum Disorders ASD and their caregivers by building partnerships between people with ASD, their families and the community to provide information, services, learning and research in Durban North.

Their projects include and Early Learning Intervention Centre, Shahumna Adult Skills Transfer and Business Hub – and a resource centre providing ongoing support to family and community members who support autistic people. It is the only walk-in resource centre in Kwa-Zulu Natal and provides pivotal service to vulnerable individuals. 

, The Star Foundation donated R95,600 to their gym room with sensory-friendly equipment – and equipment for the catering & hospitality program for their industrial kitchen.

Through guided exercise programs and sensor friendly equipment, autistic individuals can develop strength, endurance and confidence in their physical abilities, establishing a sense of empowerment.


The catering & hospitality project currently runs within the industrial kitchen attached to the Action in Autism Hall as it’s base. Young adults with a significant interest in cooking, baking and catering are trained in the field. Participants will contribute towards a micro-enterprise, providing catering – sandwiches, teas, light meals and baked goods for internal Action in Autism functions, as well as for external events and functions.

Autism Acceptance Month

Nashe Muza from Mpumalanga, South Africa has been a 

 Prosthetic Fund beneficiary since 2013. From a young age, Nashe was encouraged to be her lively self and to actively participate in gymnastics, swimming, and any other sports she wanted to try out.

Nashe was born with a congenital condition resulting in a below ankle amputation in 2013. That same year, Nashe’s mother, Mara, was referred to Jumping Kids through whose support Nashe was fitted with her first prosthetic walking solution.

From it being doubtful that Nashe would ever walk unassisted, to her participating in gymnastic and swimming only four years after her first prosthetic fitment, it was clear that with the correct prosthetic equipment and support, there is nothing Nashe could not accomplish.

Currently a Grade 6 learner at Uplands Preparatory School in White River, Nashe continues to impress teachers with her tenacity, adaptability, and passion. Reportedly, she is well integrated and popular amongst her peers.
The feedback that ‘everybody wants to be her friend’ is easy to believe of this spontaneous young lady who was fitted with her first sports prosthesis, known as a running blade, in March of 2024.


1.	What is your favourite subject at school and why?


My favourite subjects at school are Maths because I understand it well and art because I love to draw and paint.


2.	What would you like to pursue as a career one day?


One day, I would like to be a singer because I love singing and I love music. Recently I auditioned for a solo in the choir, and I got the part. I am very excited.


3.	What types of sport and extracurricular activities are you involved in?
The types of sports that I am involved in are netball, hockey, and soccer. The type of extracurricular activity I do is choir. I also love ice-skating. I taught myself how to skate and now I am really good.


4.	What do you hope to try or achieve with your new prosthetic sports blade?


Equipped with my new prosthetic sports blade I hope to make the relay, high jump, or long jump team in Athletics.


5.	What is your message to children living with a physical challenge?


My message to children living with a physical challenge is that it is not a disability, it is a wonder that God has given you. God is shining His wonders through you, and you are unstoppable if you put your mind to it
