Giving the Gift of Sight.
The Star Foundation joined forces with the
African Eye Institute to make a meaningful impact on learners at schools in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. This partnership aims to provide vital eye care services, ensuring these children can see clearly and reach their full potential.
Clear vision is the gateway to a world of possibilities, especially for children in school. Without proper eye care, even the most curious minds can be hindered by blurry vision, affecting their ability to learn.
The African Eye Institute, a non-profit organization founded in 2003 by Professor Brien Holden, is dedicated to delivering quality eye care to those who need it most. Its mission is to create a world where no one is limited by poor vision.
For many children, simple joys like reading a book, seeing the board in class, or playing with friends can be out of reach due to untreated vision problems. Poor eyesight not only impacts a child’s learning but also affects their confidence and overall well-being. Without the proper support, these children may struggle to keep up with their peers.
Prof. Holden, often hailed as "the most influential optometrist of our generation," dedicated his life to advancing eye health. Through his lectures, research, and advocacy, he inspired countless others to join the mission of ensuring everyone has access to quality eye care.
The Star Foundation’s partnership with the African Eye Institute goes beyond providing glasses or treatments—it’s about giving children the gift of sight, the confidence to engage fully in their education, and the hope for a brighter future.
You can be part of this life-changing journey. It doesn’t take much to make a big difference.
